Plan Your Visit
We’re so glad you’re here. Visiting a new place can feel overwhelming, so we’ve made it simple.
What Makes Us Different?
Sensory Getaway was created with neurodivergent children in mind — because families in Southeast Idaho deserve a space that understands sensory needs, regulation, and developmental differences. But here’s what’s important: We are intentionally designed. Not exclusively limited. All children are welcome here.
Before You Arrive
1. Check our calendar for upcoming events that might not be suitable for the purpose of your visit. Pre-registration is not required and there are no set session times. 2. Complete the Waiver. All participants must have a signed waiver on file before entering the play space. 3. Grippy Socks Required. For safety on our hard floors, children are required to wear grippy socks. Exceptions are made for medical devices (AFOs, orthotics) and mobility equipment. Caregivers do not need grippy socks but must remove outdoor shoes.
What to Expect
A calm, welcoming environment. Structured play areas designed for sensory regulation and development. Open-ended exploration with gentle guidance. A smaller-capacity space to reduce overstimulation. You will not find loud music, flashing lights, or chaotic crowds here. You will find intentional design, predictable structure, and space to breathe.
Caregiver Expectations
At Sensory Getaway, we practice real-world public play skills in a supportive environment. Caregivers can help by: Staying with and supervising your child at all times. Supporting safe and respectful play with people and equipment. Helping children clean up materials before transitioning or leaving. Encouraging gentle hands, walking feet, and indoor voices. Checking in with staff if your child needs support, a break, or accommodations.
First Time Tips
If this is your child’s first visit: Preview photos of the space together. Talk through what they might see and do. Plan for a calm transition before and after your visit. Let us know if there are specific triggers or supports that help. We’re happy to work with you to make the experience successful.
Our Rooms
We have 6 sensory-immersive themed rooms including Lights, Water, Music, Swing, Bins, and a Calm Down room. We also have separate spaces for gross motor skills, building, magnets, pretend, and arts and crafts. Check out our Gallery for pictures of what you can expect to find! Each of our themed rooms have some consistent items including fidget toys, noise-reducing headphones, and a sanitization bucket. Please place any object that has been worn, mouthed, coughed, or sneezed on into the bucket to be sanitized. All toys, equipment, objects, and surfaces are deeply sanitized at least once per week. Restrooms and the changing table are deeply sanitized daily.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I bring my typical child?
Absolutely! Sensory Getaway was intentionally designed to support sensory needs and developmental differences, but inclusive spaces benefit everyone. Our space is developmentally appropriate for ages 0–12. If your child enjoys calmer play, smaller groups, and respectful interaction, this may be a great fit for your family.
Do caregivers pay?
No, caregivers are not charged admission. However, we do ask that caregivers remain with their children and supervise them at all times.
What are your rates?
Children under 12 months are welcome to attend with an older sibling at no cost. While we love welcoming little ones, our equipment and play areas are primarily designed for children who are sitting, crawling, cruising, and walking. We simply ask that caregivers remain actively supervising at all times. Children ages 12–36 months attend for $10. Toddlers engage differently in play and often use the space at a different intensity than older children, so we offer a reduced rate to make visits more accessible for families. Children ages 3 and up are $15 per single visit. Check out our punch passes and membership options.
Is there a time limit to play?
There is no time limit for open play at Sensory Getaway. We find most visits usually last around 2 hours, but you are welcome to stay as long as you like.
Do you host birthday parties?
Yes! Our base rate is only $75 for our party room rental, plus $10 per participant. Caregivers attend at no additional cost. To maintain our sensory-considerate environment, we ask that you limit the number of participants to 20. You are welcome to bring your own food, drink, dishes, and decorations, but require that it remains in the party room and not in the play spaces. Garbage cans and extra bags will be provided. All regular rules and expectations must be honored during birthday parties. Birthday parties can be scheduled during open play on Fridays and Saturdays in 2-hour blocks. Private parties are available for additional cost. Please call 208.747.7427 to schedule birthday parties.
